Frequently asked questions and answers are grouped into the following sections:
Q.
I am a registered owner of an older version of Words of Worship, how can I
upgrade to a newer version?
A.
Minor updates are free of charge. Upgrades can be purchased by existing users
when released. Click here to visit the online shop.
Q.
I purchased my software from Spring Harvest, will I continue to get free
updates?
A.
Customers who purchased Words of Worship from Spring Harvest before April 2004
and bought a package entitling them to free product upgrades for a fixed
period. These updates will automatically be sent to customers by Spring
Harvest. For more information please visit
www.springharvest.org.
After your upgrade period has expired you may upgrade your product in the
normal way. Click here to visit the online shop.
Q.
We have purchased Words of Worship. Can we simply install the evaluation
download over the existing installation to gain the new features?
A.
If you specify the same installation location and ignore the evaluation licence
key sent to you then this will work as long as your licence key covers the new
version. You may not get some updates to the bible depending on the version you
are upgrading from. The preferred method of updating is to download the
update-only installation by logging in using the email address and password you
previously used on the website.
Words of Worship Evaluation Version
Q.
I've downloaded the evaluation copy from your web site, but it doesn't seem to
have all the features mentioned, such as supporting multiple displays, or the
genlock features.
A.
The evaluation copy should support both those features. You will need more than
two graphics cards for multiple displays and a genlock for the genlock control.
You can set up your multiple outputs by holding shift when selecting output
settings from the Display menu and your genlock by selecting the appropriate
link in the Options dialogue.
Q.
I’m having difficulty signing-in
A.
Make sure you enter the same email address and password you gave us when you
registered. If you have forgotten your password, try to log anyway - if you
enter the wrong password you will be given the opportunity have your password
emailed to you.
Q.
I have forgotten my password, how can I sign-in?
A.
If you have forgotten your password, try to log anyway - if you enter the wrong
password you will be given the opportunity have your password emailed to you.
Q.
How does the genlock control work?
A.
The genlock control allows you to automatically initialise and then to switch
between PC only and PC overlaid on video using a video overlay device connected
to a COM port on the computer running Words of Worship. Words of Worship has a
new menu item, toolbar button and shortcut key to stop you having to pick up
the remote control for your genlock and do this manually. The facility is
pre-programmed for the Vine Micro's CORIOgen Eclipse
(a budget product popular with churches) and is easily customisable for other
devices.
Q.
How do I utilise multiple display support?
A.
You will need more than two graphics cards for multiple displays. You can set
up your multiple outputs by holding shift when selecting output settings from
the Display menu.
Q.
Can screen display formats be switched easily?
A.
It is possible to switch display resolutions and Words of Worship will maintain
the output so it looks the same afterwards.
Q.
Can the output settings be switched during a service?
A.
You can store multiple sets of output settings and switch between them. You can
also tweak the output settings ”on the fly”. In addition to this, Words of
Worship offers integrated genlock control (switch the genlock on or off using
the software) and multiple outputs – so you can optimise the display across
different monitor types (e.g. If you use video projectors in conjunction with
monitors).
Q.
I can't get the background images to display behind the song words
A.
Background image support is dependant on your hardware supporting DirectDraw
overlays. This interface is no longer widely supported and we intend to improve
the background image support in a future release of Words of Worship.
Q.
Which Bible versions are currently supported?
A.
Words of Worship is supplied with the New International Version of the Bible as
standard. The NIV is the most popular English-language translation currently
available. We are evaluating other translations, please let
us know if you have a need for another version.
Q.
What range of songs can Words of Worship project?
A.
You can enter any song/hymn into Words of Worship, and even liturgy or other
text. Songs can be typed in manually (ideal if you have songwriters in your
congregation), or imported from songbook CDs. You can also share songs with
other churches who use Words of Worship. For legal reasons we are currently
unable to supply many songs ourselves. To project copyright protected songs,
you must have a valid CCLI license.
Q.
Do I have to be in the church to prepare a Playlist?
A.
No.The
Playlist function enables your worship team to prepare a list of songs/liturgy
etc. ahead of the service – helping the operator find and display songs
quickly. Your worship leader may wish to install WoW on their home/office
computer and create a Playlist from there. If they have internet access they
can then email the Playlist to the main computer, ready for display;
alternatively the Playlist could be copied onto disk and transferred that way.
The Standard licence allows you to install WoW on multiple preparation machines
at no extra charge.
Q.
What are the licensing implications for a single display unit (in church) but
various preparation points (installed on several members machines)?
A.
Words of Worship is licensed per-organisation and can be installed on as many
machines as required.
Q.
Do I need to be on-line to use the software?
A.
No. One area where internet access may be helpful (but not compulsory) is if
your worship team use the Playlist function. The Playlist function enables your
worship team to prepare a list of songs/liturgy etc. ahead of the service –
helping the operator find and display songs quickly. Your worship leader may
wish to install WoW on their home/office computer and create Playlists from
there. If they have internet access they can then email the Playlist to the
main computer, ready for display; alternatively the Playlist could be copied
onto disk and transferred that way. The Standard licence allows you to install
WoW on multiple preparation machines at no extra charge.
Q.
Is there some sort of function that allows easy batch conversion from the Words
of Worship format back to text?
A.
There is no batch export function in Words of Worship.
Q.
Is there a Mac version of this software?
A.
There are no plans to port Words of Worship to the Mac.
